Charter Member – Charter Membership is restricted to manufacturers of ballast water treatment systems. This status is to be proven by demonstration that the company has achieved IMO Type Approval under the 2004 International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments and/or U.S. Coast Guard Type Approval under 46 CFR 162.060 for at least one (1) product. Charter membership entitles the member to full voting rights in the Association, eligibility for one of eight (8) dedicated Board of Director positions reserved for Charter members and eligibility to serve as an Officer.
Associate Member - Associate Membership is open any corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship or individual which manufactures equipment in support of ballast water management, operates as an engineering or consulting firm assisting with the design, testing, or installation of ballast water treatment systems, provides testing services for ballast water treatment systems, or is a ballast water equipment manufacturer in the process of testing a ballast water treatment system under the IMO Type Approval under the 2004 International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments and/or U.S. Coast Guard Type Approval under 46 CFR 162.060 for at least one (1) product. Associate membership entitles the member to full voting rights in the Association as well as eligibility for one (1) Board of Director position reserved for Associate members, but is not eligible to serve as an Officer.
Corporate Member – Any corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship that is an interested stakeholder and which may be useful to support the objectives of the Association shall be eligible for Corporate Membership. Corporate Membership entitles the Member to the benefits of the Association, including attendance at the Annual Meeting, and by invitation, other meetings of the Association, and access to all Members-Only literature, publications and information. Corporate Membership does not entitle the member to serve on the Board of Directors or as an Officer, to serve as a permanent member of any Committee, or to vote on Association matters. Corporate Members shall be allowed to display the BEMA logo and will be acknowledged as members in BEMA literature.
Governmental / Educational Member - Any individual engaged in educational, governmental, research or professional pursuits directly related to the prevention of aquatic invasive species, ballast water management and/or any related industry is eligible for governmental / educational membership. Governmental / educational membership entitles the member to the benefits of the Association excluding voting rights.
Individual Member - Any individual whose contribution may be useful to support the objectives of the Association is eligible for individual membership. Individual membership entitles the member to the benefits of the Association, excluding voting rights. The company that the individual is working for will not be mentioned in the BEMA membership register and may not use the BEMA logo.
